  • To make your Easter M&M cookies, start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees and preparing a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Next, add your butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar to a separate mixing bowl.
  • Cream the butter and sugars together for about 5 minutes or until fluffy and lightened in color.
  • Add the eggs one at a time to the butter mixture, mixing after each.
  • Add the vanilla and mix again until combined.
  • Take the flour mixture and add it slowly to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined until all the flour mixture is added.
  • Fold the chocolate chips and M&M’s in gently.
  • Now you can start scooping! Take a medium-sized cookie scoop and scoop your dough onto the prepared baking sheet, keeping your cookies about 2 inches apart.
  • If desired, press a few additional M&M’s on top of the cookie dough before baking for added Easter color.
  • Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for about 8-10 minutes or until the edges start to turn golden brown.
  • Let the cookies cool for 5-7 minutes on the baking sheet before transferring them to a cooling rack to cool completely!

Tips Tricks and FAQs

  • Make sure your butter is softened, but not melted. Butter makes a huge difference in the end result of your cookies! Melted butter or too cold butter may lead to a cookie that is crisp and flat instead of chewy and soft. Your best bet is to grab out some butter an hour or two before you start making your cookies.
  • You could really make this recipe with any color or variety of M&M’s that you like. This recipe is so great! But if you are looking for an easy Easter treat, nothing is cuter or more simple than these Easter M&M Cookies with the springy Easter M&M’s.
  • Don’t feel like you need to mix your dough a ton after adding the flour. It’s hard to resist mixing until there’s not a speck of flour leftover, but overmixing will make for a tough cookie! Resist the urge to overmix and just fold in your flour until it’s barely combined.

Storage

To store your cookies, place them in an airtight container on your counter for up to a week!

Can I freeze chocolate M&M cookies?

You can freeze these cookies before or after you bake them. To freeze them after they are baked, just put them in a freezer-safe container in your freezer for 3-4 months.

My favorite freezing method is to scoop out the dough onto a cookie sheet and place it in the freezer. When the balls are frozen, transfer them to a freezer-safe bag and label them. You can bake them as you normally would for up to 4 months.

All the tasty flavor of fresh-baked cookies with no work!
