Directions

  • Select brown construction paper for the gingerbread man base and different colored construction papers for the other patterns. The template includes a head, legs, hands, buttons, eyes, bow tie, frosting-lines, and blushes. Trace the template patterns on the selected construction papers and cut out the traced pattern.
  • Glue the head frosting-line along the top part of the head cutout.
  • Use a sharpie to draw the eyes on the eye cutouts. Attach the mouth and the eye cutouts on the head. You could also use googly eyes instead of drawing the eyes!
  • Glue the blush cutouts on both cheeks.
  • Glue the frosting-lines on the hand and leg cutouts.
  • Measure and cut out brown paper to cover the front surface of your paper bag. This will be the front side of the paper bag puppet.
  • Glue the leg patterns on the bottom side of the prepared paper. The prepared paper is the lower body of the gingerbread man cookie puppet.
  • Glue the lower body on the paper bag’s front side.
  • Flatten the bottom flap of the paper bag with the front side of the puppet (bag).
  • Glue the button and bow tie cutouts on the body part. Glue the arm cutouts on both sides of the paper bag puppet to complete the craft.

Tips and Tricks

  • Let your kids be creative with the colors. It’s their Gingerbread Man, so let them choose!
  • If you have little, little kids, you will want to cut the pieces out for them, but older kids can do the entire project themselves.
  • If you want a cute Gingerbread Man bedroom decoration or ornament for the tree, simply make the Gingerbread Man without the paper bag and add a loop for hanging!
