Strawberry Slime
My kids and I are obsessed with slime lately, and this strawberry slime is a home run!
With a bit of supervision, this slime recipe is a great DIY activity for your kids to make. There are only a few inexpensive ingredients and it’s a pretty fun process too! Plus, I can sit back for hours while they play and eat some Strawberry Scones and make it a whole strawberry day.
After a bit of mixing, your kids will have a sweet-smelling slime that they will absolutely love.
Reasons to Love DIY Slime
I know it’s messy! But I promise it’ll be worth it. There are so many reasons that slime is a great activity to do with your kids!

It’s also a great way to work on those STEM skills. Making slime is the ultimate science project and your kids will be able to let their imagination go wild.

Scented Strawberry Slime Recipe
Make time: 15 minutes
Age Level: 5+
What You Need
- 1 6-ounce bottle of Elmer’s Glue
- ¼ cup warm water
- ½ tsp baking soda
- 1 tbsp contact lens solution
- 1 tsp strawberry scent or oil
- Red or pink food coloring
- Large bowl
- Spoon or stirring stick
How to Make Scented Strawberry Slime
- To make this slime, start by emptying the glue into a large bowl.
- Pour about ¼ cup of the water into the glue bottle and seal the bottle with the lid. Give it a good shake to release any of the glue from the sides of the bottle.
- Pour the water and glue solution into the bowl and stir the mixture to combine.
- Add the baking soda and stir again, making sure to mix well.
- Add the food coloring and strawberry scent and stir until you’ve reached your desired color and scent.
- Add the contact solution slowly, mixing occasionally as you add it to the bowl. Keep adding solution until the mixture starts to come together.
- Once it’s a sticky soft ball, remove the slime from the bowl.
- Stretch and knead the sticky dough-like mixture with your hands. Once there’s no more stickiness, the slime is ready!
Tips Tricks and FAQs
- The amount of contact lens solution that you’ll need may differ from batch to batch! It’s really important to add it slowly because you only want to add enough so that the slime starts to come together in a ball. If you add too much, you’ll turn your slime into a rubbery mess! It definitely won’t stretch and pull like you want it to, so go slow on the contact solution!
- Slime is a great gift for holidays or a fun holiday activity! A great way to dress up this slime is to add glitter or confetti! I think adding some heart confetti for Valentine’s day or red, white, and blue glitter for the Fourth of July would be so much fun!
- You can use glitter glue if you want for this slime, but for whatever reason I always end up needing to use more contact solution if I use glitter glue! The glitter glue does add an extra fun element compared to the regular glue though, so if you have enough solution it’s worth a shot!
How to Make Slime Less Sticky
As you play with your slime, it should start to lose most if not all of its stickiness. Luckily you’ll be sure to have some little volunteers to help stretch and knead it!
If after kneading it still feels sticky, try adding ½ of a teaspoon more of baking soda and kneading it into the slime. That should help with any residual stickiness that may be happening.
Storage
To store your slime, put it in an airtight container to make sure that it won’t dry out. Keep the container in the fridge and it should last a few months! If you want to keep it on the counter it’ll last a few weeks.
