Supplies

  • White cardstock paper
  • Craft glue
  • Pencil
  • Sharpies
  • A pair of scissors

How To Make Handprint Tree Craft

brown handprint cut out
  • Select brown paper for the handprint (we will use the handprint cutout as the trunk of the tree). Instead of leaves, we will use heart cutouts. Trace and cut out the heart shapes from red and pink colored craft papers. Take a piece of brown paper and trace your hand layout on it using a pencil. You can also use the handprint from our template.
  • Use a pair of scissors to cut out the traced handprint layout.
  • Trace and cut out the rectangle shape (from the template) from white cardstock paper if you’re using the template handprint. The white paper should be big enough to fit the handprint tree pattern. Keep enough space for the heart (leaves) cutouts.
  • Attach the handprint trunk cutout on the white cardstock paper.

  • Trace and cut out a bunch of heart shapes from pink-colored craft papers. Attach the heart shape cutouts on the white cardstock, around the finger parts of the handprint tree pattern.

  • If you’re confused about how to place the heart cutouts, you can place them on the paper without gluing them to check the patterns.
  • You can mix and match different colored hearts to make the craft more vibrant and fun.

Tips and Tricks

  • For children who are learning how to cut, trace the hearts on the paper to give them a pattern to cut.
  • Let your kids add more details that they want to add to the tree. Adding a bird and nest could be exactly what your tree needs!
