My family has been loving watching the Beetle Juice movie this Halloween season. I knew they would love a Beetle Juice treat, and what better way to show those black and white stripes than with jello? My kids loved helping me put these together! It is so fun seeing the distinct lines come together. All you need is Orange jello, gelatin, simple syrup,, and condensed milk to whip these up in just about 15 minutes. 

Halloween treats have been a favorite in our house, especially these Marshmallow Frankenstein Treats and Halloween themed Cake Pops. I love playing into their current interests, and they love helping me put together something they get to enjoy when they’re done! 

Are Non-Alcoholic Beetle Juice Jello Shots hard to make?

These Non-Alcoholic Beetle juice jello shots are so easy to make. All you need is a few simple ingredients and about 15 minutes to prep. 

Non-Alcoholic Beetle Juice Jello Shots

  • Serves: 10
  • Prep Time: 15 minutes
  • Chill Time: 2 hours

Ingredients

  • 1 small box Orange Jell-O (3.5 oz size)
  • 2 Packets Unflavored Gelatin
  • 2 Cups Boiling Water
  • ¾ Cup Cold Water, divided
  • ¼ Cup Simple Syrup (equal parts sugar and water)
  • 2 TBSP. Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • ½ Teaspoon Black Gel Food Coloring
  • Green Sprinkles

How to Make Non-Alcoholic Beetle Juice Jello Shots

  • Start out by lining up cups on a tray.

  • First start by making the bottom black layer. In a small pan bring one cup of water to a boil. Once water is boiling, pour in the orange jello and whisk until fully dissolved.

  • Add in ½ cup cold water, and black gel dye. Whisk again to combine all ingredients.

  • Take your black mixture and fill the cups one quarter of the way, then place them in the fridge to set, about 30 minutes.
  • Once black layer has set, make the white layer by adding the unflavored gelatin to 1 cup of boiling water in a medium bowl. Whisk until the unflavored gelatin has fully dissolved.

  • Add the simple syrup, 3 TBSP sweetened condensed milk and ¼ cup of cold water. Stir to combine all ingredients.
  • Pour the white mixture on top of the black layer until your cup is about half way full.
  • Place in the fridge for the white layer to set, about 30 minutes

  • Repeat the steps above so that all layers are done. Your layers will be black, white, black and white.

  • Once all layers have set, top with lime green sprinkles.

Tips, Tricks and FAQs

  • If you want to make these boozy, you can add 1/2 cup of vodka when you add the cold water and black dye for the black layers. You will also want to add ½ cup of vodka to the simple syrup for the white layers. 
  • Be sure you are allowing the jello layers to fully set before adding the next layer or you will not have defined layers. 
  • Have your kids help you make these fun jello shots! They are perfect for kids because they have no alcohol. 

Storage

Keep these Jello Shots in the fridge and they should keep indefinitely. Be sure they don’t get too warm, or they will melt and separate. 

Can I make these ahead of time?

Yes, you can make this up to 24 hours in advance. Be sure that you prep these at least 2 hours prior to serving to allow them time to set. 

Can I add alcohol to these Beetle Juice Jello Shots? 

Absolutely! Just add 1/2 cup of vodka when you add the cold water and black dye for the black layers, and ½ cup of vodka to the simple syrup for the white layers. Make the rest of the recipe exactly the same!

Ingredients

  • 1 small box Orange Jell-O (3.5 oz size)
  • 2 Packets Unflavored Gelatin
  • 2 Cups Boiling Water
  • ¾ Cup Cold Water, divided
  • ¼ Cup Simple Syrup (equal parts sugar and water)
