Engage your kids while encouraging observation skills and practicing responsibility with this hands-on craft. They’ll go along perfectly with any toddler weather craft. Your kids can have the job to change the weather card daily to help the classroom or household. When your children are more aware of the weather outside they can be more independent about choosing the correct clothing attire to wear or activities to do outside or inside for the day.

Supplies

Papercraft Weather Card supplies
  • Cardstock paper – for the cards
  • Construction papers
  • White embossed paper
  • Craft glue
  • Pencil
  • Scissors

How to Make a Papercraft Weather Cards

  • Select cardstock paper for the card cutouts. You can be creative with this step to make the end result unique to you and your tastes. Cut the cards into square shapes, at least as big as the shapes in the template. 
  • Select orange, yellow, blue, white and grey sheets of construction paper. Use white embossed paper for the clouds. 

  • Trace the cloud patterns on white embossed paper. For the storm cloud, you can use gray colored paper. Trace the sun patterns on orange and yellow papers and the rain drops on blue. Then trace the outer snowflake pattern on blue and the inner pattern on white paper. Finally, trace the lightning bolt pattern on yellow paper. 
  • Once you’ve finished tracing all of the patterns out, cut them out carefully using scissors.  
  • Grab your glue and stick the white inner snowflake pattern on the blue outer pattern. Glue the yellow round pattern of the sun in the middle of the orange zigzag bordered pattern. 

  • Begin attaching the weather icons to the cardstock. Start by gluing one cloud on a card. Glue rain drops under it. 
  • Once you’ve finished tracing all of the patterns out, cut them out carefully using scissors.  
  • Grab your glue and stick the white inner snowflake pattern on the blue outer pattern. Glue the yellow round pattern of the sun in the middle of the orange zigzag bordered pattern. 
  • Begin attaching the weather icons to the cardstock. Start by gluing one cloud on a card. Glue rain drops under it. 
  • Next, glue two cloud patterns on one card, making sure to have them overlapping one another slightly. This will be the card to indicate cloudy weather.
  • Create your lightning indicator card by gluing two dark clouds overlapping onto one card. Then glue the yellow lightning bolt beneath the clouds. 
  • Next, glue the sun and snowflake patterns on two other cards.  
  • Similarly, cut out and craft more weather items and stick them on a card as desired. 

Tips and Tricks

  • To add even more dimension to your weather cards, you can use slightly pulled apart cotton balls as the clouds. 
  • You can also use rain drop stickers or jewels to enhance your craft. 
  • In addition to weather cards, you can also create season and/or holiday cards too!

How Do I Print A PDF?

You’ll need a program that supports PDFs. Adobe Acrobat is a great option. Open the program, click file, then print. Select your printer and the number of copies you want to print. Be sure you click double-sided if you want it to print on both sides. 

Can I Resell These?

You may not resell any printable or template that you find on our website or receive in your email. You may use them for class parties, at church, at home, or in the classroom. You may get these printed at an office supply store or copy center at your own expense.
