How to Make A Dinosaur Bookmark

  • Select colored craft papers for the dinosaur patterns. Trace and cut out the patterns from the selected craft papers nicely. Let’s start with the T-Rex and the triceratops patterns
  • Apply glue along the straight side of the T-Rex scale pattern. Attach the glued pattern on the backside of the T-Rex base cutout.

Tips and Tricks

  • This fun project is perfect for 4 year olds and above with adult supervision. Your child may need you to precut the pieces for them.
  • Sometimes glue sticks can be tricky for younger kids to use. If this is the case for your child, try using Elmer’s glue on a paper plate and give your child a Q-tip to dip in the glue instead. They will still work on their fine motor skills and be able to glue the craft together themselves!

More Ideas…

Dinosaurs are so versatile. There are so many fun dinosaur-themed activities you can do!

  • Have a family charades night-dinosaur themed. There are many dinos distinct enough to act out and the younger kids will go wild pretending to be their favorites! This gives young children the opportunity to use their imagination and acting skills. They will never forget the fun you have!
  • Make your own DIY dinosaur costumes. Gather up old boxes, craft paper, or whatever you have and help your child make their favorite dinosaur costume. You could have your child present their costume to the family (or invite their friends over!) and tell everyone why they like it. This builds confidence and early public speaking skills in your child.
  • Make a dinosaur trivia game. Gather facts about your kids’ favorite dinosaurs (and yours too) and make trivia questions on 3X5 cards to test everyone’s knowledge at the dinner table or for family night.
  • Check out some books on dinosaurs from your local library. No child is too young to read, even if it is as simple as turning the pages and pointing at the pictures!
  • Have a dinosaur movie night. Grab some of your favorite fruits, veggies, and meats (like beef jerky), and talk about which dinosaurs were carnivores and which were herbivores during/after the movie.
  • Enjoy dinosaur jokes together as a family!
