We love making Christmas treats during the holiday season at our house. Some of our favorites are our Christmas Cake and these fun Strawberry Dipped Christmas Trees

But when it is cold outside and watching Christmas movies we love hot chocolate and let me tell you these Grinch Cocoa cups are a huge hit.

My kids love making these cocoa cups and using them when they were done. They are the perfect project for those long, cold Christmas Break days. They are easy to put together and fun for kids to use when they’re done.

Tips, Tricks and FAQs

  • Once your Grinch hot cocoa cups are made and set, melt them in hot milk or water for a tasty hot chocolate treat!
  • The key to these melting is how hot the water / milk is. If it is not hot enough then they will not melt.
  • There is a learning curve. Keep trying and you’ll get better with every cup you make!
  • If the cup breaks when you unmold it, there are a couple of things you could do. If the crack is near the top, or small, you could use some of the melted chocolate to patch the hole. If the crack is large or you can’t piece it back together, simply remelt it and try again!
  • Depending on your melting chocolate (wafers vs bark, etc.), your chocolate may be thicker. If you use thicker chocolate then your cups will be thicker and more sturdy. The trick is melting the chocolate enough to spread easily but not so thin that it dries very thin and is brittle.

Storage

Store the Grinch Cocoa Cups in air-tight bags. These keep indefinitely as long as they don’t melt. Be sure to store them in a cool dry place.
