Tips, Tricks, and FAQs

  • If you can’t find peanut butter cookies, you can use chocolate sandwich cookies. This will give it less of a peanut butter flavor and more of a chocolate flavor which is okay in my book!
  • When it comes to crushing your cookies, you will want to use a food processor with the pulse setting, or you can place them in a plastic bag and smash them with a rolling pin.
  • To prevent lumps in your cream cheese layer, you will want to ensure that your cream cheese is at room temperature.
  • Be sure to set each layer before moving on to the next. You will place it in the fridge for at least 30 minutes. This helps form actual layers in your chocolate peanut butter dream bars.
  • Let this dessert sit in the fridge for at least 2 hours before serving.
  • You can double the recipe; you will just need to use a 9×13 pan.

Can I Make this ahead of time?

Yes, you can easily make this ahead of time. I prefer to make it the night before serving to allow the layers to all set up nicely.

Is there an easy way to cut this?

I suggest, before serving, placing it in the fridge for 30 minutes. This helps with cutting it, so the layers do not mix together.
