This blondie recipe is delicious and they are so easy to make too! With just 10 mins of prep time you can throw these in the oven and have nutty, sweet, and creamy creations in less than an hour. Most of that time is spent in the oven too so there is time to do something on that endless to-do list I know you have lying around.

These blondies are great to make with your kids too! My kids love helping me measure the ingredients and mix everything together. Their favorite part is putting the chocolate chips in! There are always a few that end up in our mouths instead of the bowl. There is very little mess and what gets messy can be cleaned up in no time!  It’s the perfect family afternoon activity and then you have a delicious treat to enjoy after dinner!

Tips, Tricks, and FAQ’s

  • To make for easy cutting it’s best to wait until the blondies are completely cool. I’m sure we all know what it’s like to cut into brownies that haven’t cooled yet. It’s pretty much impossible to make them look pretty! Another trick is to either use a sharp knife to make clean cuts or a plastic knife. I’ve had the most success with the plastic knife!
  • You know these are going to be good by themselves right?! Want to know how they could be even better? I love drizzling caramel syrup over my blondies and then topping with some whipped cream! It’s become a family favorite!

How to Store Blondies

Once your blondies have cooled completely, place them in an airtight container. They can stay on the counter like that for 3 days, in the fridge for a week, and in the freezer for up to 3 months!

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are they called a blondie not a brownie?

I was curious about this for a long time too, but basically, the biggest difference between blondies and brownies is the use of vanilla versus chocolate. This blondie recipe uses both vanilla cake mix and vanilla in the batter. Blondies are typically made with brown sugar as well! Brown sugar helps give blondies their rich, caramel like flavor.

How do I know when my blondies are done?

There are two ways to check for doneness. The first is by making sure the center of the blondies don’t move when the pan is shaken. The second way to test for doneness is by sticking a toothpick into the middle of the blondies. If it comes out clean you’re good to go!
