  • Colored craft papers
  • Craft glue
  • Pencil
  • Sharpie
  • Scissors

How to Make a Elephant Out of Paper:

  • Select 2 different shades of grey craft paper and pink colored craft papers for the elephant paper craft. Trace the trunk, body and tail patterns on the dark shade of grey paper. Trace the ear pattern on the other shade of grey colored paper and trace the inner ear pattern on the pink colored paper. Cut out the traced papers nicely.
  • Glue the inner ear cutout in the middle of the outer ear cutout.
  • Turn he elephant body cutout to the other side. Glue the tail on the back side, keeping the tip of the tail facing downwards.
  • Glue the extra trunk pattern with the main trunk pattern by keeping the front side of the trunk free. Do not apply glue on the whole trunk pattern, only on the inner side.
  • Turn the elephant body pattern to the other side again (the front side).
  • Glue the ear pattern with the body pattern. The ear pattern should be attached between the head and body parts, keeping the round edge of the ear facing outwards.
  • Use a sharpie to draw the eye and the mouth of the paper elephant.
  • Trace and cut out a heart shape from a colored craft paper of your choice. Insert the heart cutout between the 2 layers of the trunk patterns.

Crafts are a great way to improve a child’s development. It gives them a sense of achievement and accomplishment when they finish them. It is also a great way to try something new that they have never done before.

More Zoo Themed Activities

My kids love the Zoo! I mean who doesn’t? This craft provides a perfect opportunity to do more Zoo themed activities.

If you haven’t been to the Zoo recently, take your child and show them the elephants. They will be so excited after making their own elephant. You will love making the paperbag lion puppet craft too!

Create a sensory Zoo bin. You could take some Easter grass, with a few different animals in the bin. You could also use rice or beans as an alternative for the Easter grass. With the water animals, you can create a soapy water container for your child to play in with the water animals.

Have you ever heard of the Elephant Stacking Game? This might become your child’s new favorite game. The goal is to keep stacking and balancing the Elephants on top of each other and see how high you can stack them without them tipping over.

Love this papercraft! Pin it to make later!
