  • To make your hot chocolate bomb, start by adding your white candy melts to a medium-sized bowl.
  • Microwave the candy melts for 1 minute at 50% power. Stir the chocolate and continue microwaving for 30 seconds at a time until completely melted.
  • Add about 1 tablespoon of the melted white chocolate to each cavity of a silicone sphere mold.
  • Using a small silicone spatula or a spoon, spread the chocolate around to completely coat each cavity.
  • Move the mold to the fridge for 3-5 minutes to set completely.
  • Remove the set spheres from the fridge and slowly pull each away from the silicone mold, starting with the sides of the sphere and popping out the middle. Set the spheres on a baking sheet or piece of parchment paper.
  • Next, place a small plate in the microwave and heat it for about 20 seconds or until hot.
  • Remove the plate from the microwave and place a sphere with the sides down on the plate. Twist the sphere slightly to melt the sides.
  • Tip the sphere back over and add about a heaping tablespoon of hot chocolate mix, 7-8 marshmallows, and a teaspoon of sprinkles.
  • Twist another sphere on the hot plate to melt the edges and carefully place it on top of the filled sphere, gently pushing to seal the edges.
  • Repeat on the remaining spheres and set the 3 hot chocolate bombs aside.
  • Place the yellow candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl and melt them the same way you melted your white melts.
  • Add the melted chocolate to a piping bag or sandwich storage bag and snip the edge.
  • Use the bag to drizzle yellow spirals over each of the hot chocolate bombs.
  • Immediately add sprinkles before the chocolate sets.
  • Let the confetti hot chocolate bomb set for about 15-20 minutes before storing.

Tips Tricks and FAQs

  • If you are having trouble with your chocolate pooling inside of your spheres, try turning the sphere mold upside down to set! You can place a wire rack on top of some parchment paper and set the mold upside down right on top of the rack. You may need to clean up the edges of each half-sphere, but it’ll help you get an even coating!
  • The heat of your fingers can melt the chocolate pretty easily on these hot chocolate bombs. So if you don’t want to leave fingerprints you may want to wear some food-safe gloves. If you feel like the chocolate is still melting too easily, you may want to return the spheres to the fridge for 5 or 10 more minutes.
  • Instead of using a hot plate, you can also use a frypan over low heat to melt the edges of your sphere. Both methods work just as well so it’s up to you which you prefer!

Storage

To store your confetti hot chocolate bomb, place it in an airtight container and keep it on the counter for up to 2 weeks or in the fridge for up to 1 month.
