Crab Bookmark
Summer is such a fun time of year, but I know that I need to have the crafts and activities lined up. When the kids are home all day, it’s so easy for them to get bored. We’ve already colored both our Fish Template, and our Crab Template, transforming our dining room into an underwater oasis. I knew that I wanted to do something a little different, so I decided on a Crab Bookmark!
I love the idea of crafts that my kids can actually use afterward, and I knew a bookmark would be a hit because we’ve been taking weekly library trips. My kids love using fun bookmarks, and I love that they encourage reading. What better animal for a fun summer bookmark than a cute crab?
My kids really love being able to customize their crafts. We didn’t have a red crab in sight. I let the kids choose whatever color papers they wanted, and we had everything from a blue crab to a neon pink one! Let your kids have fun and make their crab theirs because they are going to love using it when they know they got to choose!
If your kids are anything like mine, they are definitely going to need more than one bookmark. Whether they are reading more than one book, or their crab gets misplaced, be sure to check out our Flamingo Bookmark and Kangaroo Bookmark for more animal inspired bookmark ideas.

Directions
- Grab construction papers for the crab bookmark. The template includes a base, eyes, blush, 4 legs, and a pair of legs with claws. Trace the template patterns on the selected craft papers and cut out the traced pattern.
- Glue the eye cutouts on the 2 round parts along the top side of the base. Glue the blush cutouts on both sides of near the bottom part of the base. Use a sharpie to trace the mouth-line of the crab figure.
- Glue the claw (teardrop shaped pieces) cutouts with the curvy leg cutouts.
- Glue a pair of the 4 leg cutouts on any one side of the base.
- Glue the other pair of legs on the other side of the base. Use a sharpie to draw a zigzag line on the claw part.
- Glue the leg (with claws) on both sides (bottom) of the base. Keep the claw parts to the front side of the base and keep them free from glue.
- Place a paper or page between the base and the claws to use the crab figure as a bookmark.
Tips and Tricks
- Encourage your kids to use their creativity! Crabs don’t have to be red. They can be blue, yellow, or rainbow polka dot!
- If you have little kids, you might need to help them cut out their pieces. Make it a team project between you and your kid, or ask an older sibling to help!

How Do I Print A PDF?
You’ll need a program that supports PDFs. Adobe Acrobat is a great option. Open the program, click file, then print. Select your printer and the number of copies you want to print. Be sure you click double-sided if you want it to print on both sides.
Can I Resell These?
You may not resell any printable or template that you find on our website or receive in your email. You may use them for class parties, at church, at home, or in the classroom. You may get these printed at an office supply store or copy center at your own expense.
