Fun Handprint Elephant Craft for Kids

My kids absolutely love animal crafts. We almost have a handprint zoo over here in our house! After making a Handprint Flamingo, Handprint Cow and Handprint Butterfly, my kids were dying to make a Handprint Elephant, a favorite animal around our house. It was a huge hti and we can’t wait to share this craft with you! 

This adorable Handprint Elephant is perfect if your kids love animals. It’s so cute, and so easy to make. All you have to do is download and print the template, grab a few craft supplies, and you’re ready to get crafting. 

Your kids are going to love having a fun elephant to display in their room, play make believe with, or anything else they decide to do with it! You’re going to love the family time spent around the table crafting together. 

How to Make a Handprint Elephant

Supplies

  • Colored construction papers
  • Pencil – to trace the template
  • Craft glue
  • Sharpie or gel pen
  • A pair of scissors

Directions

  • Select a construction paper for the base patterns along with pink craft paper for the inner ear patterns. Trace the template patterns on the selected construction papers and cut them out. Trace and cut out the eye bases and use a sharpie to fill the eyes.

  • The handprint cutouts are the ears of the elephant. Glue the inner ear cutouts on the handprint ear (palm part) cutouts.

  • Glue the trunk cutout near the bottom side of the head cutout.

  • Glue the eye cutouts along the top part of the head pattern.

  • Use a sharpie to draw textures on the trunk and the outer edges of the hair (on top of the head). This will give the elephant a finished look.

  • Attach the ear patterns on both sides of the head pattern to complete the elephant craft.

Tips and Tricks

  • Don’t be tied to our colors! Your kids can have a pink elephant if they want! Let them be creative! 
  • This would be so fun with glitter paper for a sparkle elephant! 
  • If you have little kids, you might want to help them cut out the pieces, but older kids should be able to do this all on their own!

How Do I Print A PDF?

You’ll need a program that supports PDFs. Adobe Acrobat is a great option. Open the program, click file then print. Select your printer and the number of copies you want to print. Be sure you click double-sided if you want it to print on both sides. 

Can I Resell These?

You may not resell any printable or template that you find on our website or received in your email. You may use them for class parties, at church, at home, or in the classroom. You may get these printed at an office supply store or copy center at your own expense.
