Easy Paper Cup Flower Craft

One of my favorite parts about spring is when all the flowers bloom. This paper cup flower craft is a great way to bring a little bit of spring inside. Paper Cup Flower Craft For Kids

My kids love to paint, and we always look for an easy-to-create craft. This craft is perfect for my kids to create something using their budding artistic skills. Check out our other paint crafts, such as our bumble bee garden rocks; they are a perfect addition to any garden. 

Creating these flowers is a snap! All you need is a paper cup, scissors, and paint, and in no time, you will have a bouquet of flowers that will last long beyond spring and summer. Perfect for any occasion!

Supplies

  • Colored craft papers
  • Pencil – to trace the template
  • Craft glue
  • Sharpie or gel pen
  • Paper cup
  • Acrylic paint
  • Paintbrush

How to Make A Paper Cup Flower

Directions

  • Pick a paper cup for the flower craft.

  • Use a pencil to mark the bottom end of the cup in 12 even parts. You can use the marked bottom as a tracing guide to cut the sides of the cup.

  • Cut the side of the cup into 12 even strips.

  • Flatten out the strips.

  • Use yellow paint (or any color of your choice) to cover the bottom circle of the cup, which becomes the middle of the flower. Allow the paint to dry.

  • Pick a color for the strips (petals) and paint them in.

  • As the paint for the petals is drying, cut out a strip of paper from brown craft paper and cut a leaf shape from green craft paper.

  • Glue the leaf onto the side of the stem cutout.

  • Glue the stem and leaf to the underside of the paper cup flower to complete the craft.

Tips and Tricks

  • Add some glitter to your drying paint for some more sparkle!
  • Don’t have paint? Use modge podge to cover the petals with decorative paper.
  • Create a bouquet of flowers and display them in a vase.

This Paper Cup Flower is the perfect craft for a quiet Spring afternoon! A craft to keep your kids busy, and a cute decoration for the rest of the season.

Materials

  • Colored craft papers
  • Pencil – to trace the template
  • Craft glue
  • Sharpie or gel pen
  • Paper cup
  • Acrylic paint
  • Paint brush

Instructions

Grab a paper cup for the flower craft.

Use a pencil to mark the bottom end of the cup in 12 or more even parts. You can use the marked bottom as tracing guide to cut the sides of the cup.

Cut the sides in 12 even strips.

Flatten the strips with the bottom end of the paper cup.

Use a yellow paint (or any paint of your choice) and fill the bottom surface with it. Allow the paint to dry.

Select a color for the petals (strips) and start painting them as well.

While the paint dries; prepare the stem and the leaf. Cut out a strip from brown colored craft paper and cut out a leaf shape from a green colored craft paper.

Glue the leaf on the stem cutout from a side.

Glue the paper cup flower pattern on the top open end of the paper stem to complete the craft.
