2024 February Come Follow Me Primary Talks

Week #1- I can be a good example to my family.

Junior- Jesus is a good example to me. I can be like Him. I can be an example to my family by listening to my mom and dad, being nice, and helping my family. I know that when I do good things, they will want to, too. I love my family. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Senior- I can be a good example to my family. Matthew 5:16 reads, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” In the Book of Mormon, we learn about how Nephi was an example of faith to his family. After Nephi broke his bow, many in his family felt that they wouldn’t find food but Nephi had faith. He built a new bow and followed the direction of the Liahona to find food to bring to his family. His faith blessed and humbled his family. I know that when I am an example of faith and good works, I can inspire those around me to make good choices. As I strive to live by the Lord’s example, I can help others on their path to do so, too. I can show my love for my family and my Father in Heaven by striving to be a positive influence in my home. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Week #2- I am blessed when I obey God’s commandments.

Junior- I feel happy when I obey God’s commandments. I know that He is proud of me when I make good choices. When I obey, I am blessed with feelings of peace and love. I will always do my best to obey. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Senior- Commandments are instructions for how the Lord wants us to live so that we can be happy. They are a protection for us. We have been taught that when we follow God’s commandments, we will be blessed and protected. We will feel peace. When we are obedient, we also show our love for God. God expects us to be obedient. He wants to bless us. President Thomas S. Monson said, “Our greatest happiness in this life will come as we follow God’s commandments and obey His laws.” Some people think that keeping the commandments is too hard. They want to have no rules. But this will only lead them to sadness and difficult consequences for their disobedience. We are always happiest when we strive to obey God’s commandments. I am grateful that the Lord loves me enough to show me how to get back to Him someday. I always want to be obedient. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Week #3- Joseph Smith was a prophet.

Junior- God chose Joseph Smith as a prophet in the latter days. Joseph Smith loved the Lord, so he spent his life restoring the gospel to the Earth. Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon so that I could learn more about Jesus. I am grateful for the prophet Joseph Smith. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Senior- In 2 Nephi chapter 3, Lehi told about how Joseph of Egypt had prophesied about another Joseph who would someday be a “choice seer” and that he would do “much good” for the people of our day. He would restore the gospel and bring forth many important writings which we now know as the Book of Mormon. The Joseph that He spoke of is Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith was the first prophet of the modern dispensation of the fullness of the gospel here on earth. It’s because of Joseph Smith, that we now have the church, the priesthood, and that we know about important ordinances and covenants that will help us to get back to our Heavenly Father someday. Joseph Smith accomplished what he was asked to do. He was valiant and faithful. I am so grateful for his courage and his love for us. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Week #4- Jesus Christ in my Savior.

Junior– Jesus Christ is my Savior. I love Him. He came to earth to teach me how to live like Him. He was kind to every person He met. He died for me so I can live forever with my family. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Senior- Jesus Christ is my Savior. He came to earth willingly so that He could atone for my sins. Because of his sacrifice, I know I can be forgiven when I make bad choices and repent. The Atonement of Jesus Christ is an “infinite Atonement”. This means that there is no end to what the Lord can repair and make right again. His Atonement is always available to us. We can always repent. We can always reach out to feel the comfort that is available through the Atonement of Jesus Christ when we have hard times. I am so grateful for His sacrifice. I feel His love for me when I think about how He lived and died for me. His love for me reminds me to show love and forgiveness to others, too. I will do my best to follow His example and treat everyone with love and kindness. I will be a good friend, just as Jesus is to me. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
